Kindle in the winter
The scent of smoke
On a cold day
You must accept
Life on life’s terms
That’s what they say
You are the kindling
In my chest when
I am calm and warm
You are the specter
At my side
As I wait out a storm
Snow clouds blanket
The earth and sky in white
Alone as I am, I know the same scene
Is reflecting in your eyes
As you walk in your winter coat
I know we’re dreaming the same dream
We’ve seen the pyramids
In Egypt when the stone
Still gleamed like it was polished
We’ve been peasants
In the greenest hills
And marshes where we frolicked
I recognized you
From the start
Your gaping chest revealed your heart
And I know we’ll be
Gliding through nebulas
No matter how long we were apart
We’ll be looking
At the stars
And pulsating quasars
You know we’ll be
Together
And that will always be ours
These moments
Are the blinks of eyes
In the span of Eternity
Our souls walk
through many doors
But together we will be
