Find no sanctuary here…

view from below of modern blue glass skyscrapers beyond a foreground of old stone buildings and abandoned structures seen thru a frame of barbwire and trash covering the ground
Prometheus Design

poem by Quinn Zhael (Firebird)

When Life becomes an enemy
It ceases to annoy me,
for peace I cannot tolerate
and silence will obliterate my
Self.

Now tell me, why do I persist
in mindless dreams that don’t exist?
I waver at the brink of doom,
while sheltered safely in my room up
Stairs.

I find no sanctuary here,
the furtive night is ever near
I’ve courted Death too ardently,
now he’ll have naught to do with me to
Day.

In discontent I search the sky
I want to laugh, but still I cry,
exhausted by futility,
alone amidst the strange debris of
Life.

Sirens whisper … Love me true

a tall white lighthouse on the shore shining its light at dusk with some stars becoming visible
Joshua Hibbert

by Quinn Zhael, aka Firebird

Black tears on my heart’s window
Pane
Your eyes swim with all the things you restrain
Something like a treasure box
Warped wood sealed without a lock
My ship at sea without a dock
My lighthouse shines its beam for you
Sirens whisper
“Love me true”
Storm clouds gather in the sky
The waves are biblical in size
You teeter through the pitch black
Dark
In the basement of your ark
I swim through ice and
Arctic frost
To wake you when your ship is lost
To whisper,
“Let me lie beside you
Tell me secrets
Love me true.”
